Tahawus also called Adirondak was a mining village in the town of Newcomb, NY. It is now a ghost town located in the Adirondack Park, with county road 25 being the only road in and the only road out. Tahawus was the site of a major mining and iron smelting operation in the 19th century. After a struggle, The Adirondack Iron Works surrendered to the remoteness of the wilderness and Adirondak became known as the "deserted village".

Nature taking Tahawus back.
